Heavy Vehicle Impacts Cost Estimation Process & Fund Allocations

Project Overview

Unexpected growth in localised industries such as mining and agriculture, has led to the rapid deterioration of roads carrying heavy vehicle traffic not anticipated during design and construction. Significant funding is required to maintain acceptable levels of service, well in-excess of allocated maintenance funds. To address this, the WARRIP is looking into developing a viable and sustainable costing process that will assess heavy vehicle impacts across the WA state-controlled road network. This solution will ensure that Main Roads can effectively assess funding requirements across the road network and re-direct funding as needed to maintain acceptable levels of service.
