Planning for Infrastructure Vulnerability due to Climate Change

Project Overview

With climate change expected to have increasing impact on weather patterns, it is becoming difficult to assess the general vulnerable of the Western Australian state road network to extreme weather events.  This project will build on an existing Resilience Tool developed by Main Roads Western Australia to allow the risk of climate change and infrastructure vulnerabilities in WA to be visualised.  Further development of the existing tool will ultimately improve investment decisions and justify investment need in resilient infrastructure solutions.  An improved awareness of the Resilience Tool is also being encouraged through a training and engagement session that will be open to both Main Roads staff and selected external stakeholders.
